2-Day Murchison Falls & Ziwa Rhino Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park (Boat Cruise)

Pick-up is around 6:00 AM from Kampala or Entebbe, followed by a scenic 7-hour drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through stunning woodlands and expansive savannah grasslands.

Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and a short rest before heading out at 3:00 PM for a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. Cruise upstream to the base of Murchison Falls, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, and a wide variety of birds, including the rare shoebill stork. The cruise stops just meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”, offering perfect photo opportunities of this iconic and majestic waterfall.

Day 2: Murchison Falls to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, then Kampala

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive on the Nyamsika Plateau, starting around 6:30 AM. Observe wildlife such as Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeest, waterbucks, and occasionally elusive species like oribi, bushbuck, sitatunga, and bush duiker. Predators such as lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas may also be spotted, while crocodiles and hippos line the Nile’s banks. Bird enthusiasts can enjoy species like goliath heron, pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, saddle-bill storks, and the rare shoebill stork.

Return to your lodge for a late breakfast/early lunch, then drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a couple of hours of rhino tracking in the wild. After the encounter, relax briefly before your transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe.
