SAFARI ITINERARY
Your journey begins at Marangu Gate after registration and briefing at Kilimanjaro National Park. The trail enters a lush rainforest filled with tall trees, birds, and monkeys. The path is well-maintained and gently ascending, making it a comfortable start to the climb.
You arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
Altitude: 1,870 m – 2,700 m
Hiking distance: ~8 km
Hiking time: 4–5 hours
After breakfast, you continue through the rainforest before entering the moorland zone. The vegetation becomes shorter, and the landscape opens with wide views of Kilimanjaro’s slopes.
This is an important acclimatization stage as the air becomes thinner. You arrive at Horombo Hut for rest, dinner, and overnight stay.
Altitude: 2,700 m – 3,720 m
Hiking distance: ~12 km
Hiking time: 6–8 hours
Today you enter the alpine desert zone, where the landscape becomes dry, rocky, and cold. Vegetation is very limited, and the terrain feels more extreme as you approach higher altitude.
You reach Kibo Hut in the afternoon and rest early to prepare for the midnight summit attempt.
Altitude: 3,720 m – 4,700 m
Hiking distance: ~10 km
Hiking time: 6–8 hours
Your summit journey begins at midnight. You climb slowly and steadily through steep volcanic scree toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Reaching the summit is a life-changing moment as you watch sunrise above the clouds. After celebrating, you descend back to Kibo Hut for rest and continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight stay.
Altitude: 4,700 m – 5,895 m – 3,720 m
Hiking distance: ~22 km
Hiking time: 12–15 hours
The final descent takes you back through moorland and rainforest zones. The trail is easier and allows you to reflect on your achievement while enjoying nature from a new perspective.
At Marangu Gate, you receive your summit certificate before transferring back to Arusha or Moshi.
Altitude: 3,720 m – 1,870 m
Hiking distance: ~20 km
Hiking time: 5–7 hours
