Safari Itinerary

This exciting safari begins early, between 4:30 – 5:00 AM from Kigali. Guests wake up early to shower and enjoy a hearty breakfast in preparation for a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience.

After breakfast, depart at 5:00 AM for a 2.5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s home to endangered mountain gorillas. The journey passes through Rwanda’s famous rolling hills, earning it the nickname “Land of a Thousand Hills”.

Upon arrival in Musanze, visit the park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. The briefing explains the trekking process, gorilla behavior, and safety rules. Guests are then guided into the forest to track gorilla families. Some gorilla groups may be easier to reach, depending on allocation.

The trek takes you through gardens, forest slopes, and misty mountain views until you encounter the gorillas up close, a truly unforgettable experience. Afterward, return to Musanze for lunch at a local hotel before transferring back to Kigali, arriving in the late afternoon or evening. This completes the 1 Day Gorilla Trekking Safari, leaving you with memories of Rwanda’s wildlife and stunning landscapes.
