This 2-day safari takes you to two of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations, Tarangire National Park and the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater. The journey begins in Tarangire, famous for its majestic baobab trees, vast elephant herds, and diverse wildlife that gather along the Tarangire River. Enjoy scenic game drives as you explore this uniquely beautiful park.

On the second day, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site and home to one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Experience unforgettable sightings of lions, elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos, and countless bird species, all within the dramatic volcanic caldera.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARUSHA/MOSHI TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi. After a short briefing, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its iconic baobab trees and the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania.

Upon arrival, begin your full-day game drive across the park’s diverse landscapes. Tarangire River becomes a magnet for wildlife, attracting animals such as elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, buffaloes, and many bird species.

At midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint inside the park before continuing with game viewing until late afternoon. After the safari, you will head to your lodge or campsite in Karatu / Mto wa Mbu for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: ARUSHA TO NGORONGORO CRATER 

After breakfast, depart early for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s richest wildlife habitats and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Enjoy a half-day game drive on the crater floor where you can spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, hippos, zebras, and if lucky the rare black rhino. The crater’s unique ecosystem supports an incredible density of wildlife all year round.

You will stop for a picnic lunch near the Hippo Pool before continuing with game viewing as you make your way toward the crater ascent in the early afternoon. After the safari, begin your drive back to Arusha or Moshi, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
